Did people decorate Christmas trees in the days of Jeremiah?

In the book of Jeremiah, in reference to heathens, are these verses:

Christmas trees are pagan
and this verse refers to a pagan practice
It seems the tree here in Jeremiah is talking about a similar pagan practice

There were no Christmas trees in following Jesus Christ until the Catholic church married the pagan church to get along in the dark ages.
